Cruz the Crass

The Ukrainian thing is an awful mess. There is really nothing effective that we can do about it and there probably shouldn’t be, we have no dog in this fight, but that never stopped a member of the GOP from trying to lie his or her way into some free press coverage by taking advantage of a fantasy situation that they have concocted in their anti-Obama dream world.

And of course who else would jump onto this mess but Ted Cruz, speaking at CPAC, a right wing hootenanny for neo-con mega-nuts. Cruz blames the whole Ukrainian thing on Obama. Yeah, that’s right, Teddy-poo, It’s Barry’s fault. And naturally Cruz claims that the reason Putin has decided he can do anything in Ukraine without fear of reprisal from us is because of Benghazi and our non-involvement in Syria. The fact that Cruz has such tunnel vision that he can’t see the difference between these three individual scenarios, only proves that he is either a master liar or a pathetic dummy.

We all know that Cruz is a liar and an opportunist, but is it possible that he thinks no one will remember that Bush sat by and watched as Putin invaded Georgia, even after we had invaded Iraq and Afghanistan. Maybe it’s that Putin doesn’t really give a rat’s ass who is president or what we think. Of course this would never occur to Cruz because all he’s interested in is making a phony point. Whether it’s true or a lie makes no difference to him. That’s just the kind of hairpin he is.

Cruz says that Obama should have stood unapologetically for freedom when Putin made his move. Okay, Ted and what the hell does that mean, you want him to push the button? Obama has already condemned Putin’s move. Kerry has vomited out everything that a cast of speech writers can come up with, but the reality of this situation is that we have no real position here, and everyone with even a modicum of intelligence knows this; just not you. Maybe if Ted Cruz was trying to solve the problems of this country instead of running for office two years before an election, on the problems of another country, he’d be worth his exorbitant salary.

Rand Paul also interviewed at CEPAC had a completely different take in the situation. Though this column is not behind Paul in any way shape or manner, it is refreshing to see a Republican politician who can grasp a complicated idea and make sense out of it. Paul says, flat out, that Cruz is wrong, that we should be willing to let go of the cold war mentality, that fuels many politicians who are now 50 years behind the rest of the world.

Cruz then blasted three fellow Republican’s who he sees as being too wishy-washy; John McCain, Bob Dole and Mitt Romney, mocking them as losers by calling them President Dole, McCain and Romney.  This just goes to show what a classy guy Cruz really is, how low he will stoop to in his blind quest for higher office.

In accusing Bob Dole, and John McCain, both decorated war heroes, something that he knows nothing about, of being weak Cruz demonstrates how out of touch with reality he actually is.

But Cruz isn’t finished with his ravings. In a subsequent interview, the glassy eyed senator goes on an insane rant about repealing every last word of Obamacare, rambling on about how it is the most unpopular law ever passed, one that has cost millions of people to lose their jobs, their healthcare, have their premiums skyrocket and been forced into part time work, he shows that he will say anything, lie about everything, with no thought to reality, as long as what he says advances his degenerate agenda.

Of course none or at best an infinitesimal percentage of what he says is true but that doesn’t bother Cruz. Tell the big lie, that’s his motto. After all it worked for Hitler in 1930’s Germany, why shouldn’t it work for Ted Cruz in our current, truth-less, fact-less political era?

The idea that a man like Cruz could exist on the smallest level of the political scene let alone be elected a United Sates senator is a blanket condemnation to the system under which we currently exist. We have always had nuts in politics; in that respect Cruz is nothing new.  But the fact that they are now almost in the majority and that a man like Cruz who will tell any lie, create any fiction, as long as it suits his purpose and who will twist any reality, so long as it suits his point, whether real or imaginary is too dreadful to imagine. And yet here he is, a despicable reality.

The whole problem with this political era extends, of course, to more than Cruz. Lindsay Graham’s stated comments about Obama’s supposed weakness in handling this situation are a clear illustration, from one of those who set as their agenda when Obama was elected to make him a one term president, that these losers never seem to accept the fact that they are wrong and that they are hurting this country, the country that they were elected to serve.  They should have rallied around Obama, as have past congresses in foreign policy situations have done; instead they took this occasion, one that really has little to do with us, to make political points. All they have really done is shown the world, that Obama is surrounded by a bunch of petty sore losers who don’t even tangentially have the nation’s best interests at heart but only their own self aggrandizement.

The leaders of the Republican Party, in which I was raised, would be mortified to watch the petty, greedy, petulant, butt kissing bunch of losers that have donned their mantle and become second place finishers.  They would be even more aghast at the way their replacements have bowed to the whims of the ultra-rich, who have always been well represented by the GOP but who didn’t actually lead it’s senators and representatives around by rings in their noses. Last week’s caravan to Las Vegas of Republican candidates, groveling  to kneel and kiss the ring of billionaire Sheldon Adelson, who cares more about Israel than he does about the United States was the most disgraceful exhibition of ass kissing I have ever seen.

What The Republican party of Dwight Eisenhower or even Ronald Reagan would have thought of Ted Cruz is beyond imagination, mainly because Cruz himself is beyond belief.  But what’s even further beyond belief is that there is actually a citizenry out here that has taken his demagoguery to heart, that actually believes and follows the dictates of his twisted mind, that swallows the cool-aide with relish and dances around the dead bodies of their fellows as this evil degenerate plods forward over their quivering corpses toward a twisted goal of higher political office and the destruction of the United States of America.
