There has been a lot said by the clown princes and princesses of Sunday morning TV about the antics of Joe Biden during the VP debate. The main complaint seems to be that Biden lowered the tone of the debates by laughing and making facial comments whenever Ryan said anything. But in order to lower the tone of the debate the debate had to have some tone to start with, and it didn’t because the Republicans have already removed all tone from the debates due to their refusal to recognize that there are such things as facts and such concepts as truth. One can’t take the debates seriously when one side has absolutely no regard for the truth.
If I look at a red barn and say it is red and the guy next to me says it’s blue there is no argument to be made. He is simply wrong or completely color blind. Either way there’s nothing to argue about so why have a debate?
So faced with this farcical situation, Biden took the high road and reacted to it in the exact right tone that his opponent had set. You want to say ridiculous things, I’ll laugh at them. Even Martha Raddatz acknowledged that Ryan was lying which is a hell of a lot more than the moderator at the presidential debates did.
What Biden did in retrospect was to state to Ryan, if you want to project yourself as a fool and a liar, I will give you exactly the amount of respect that you deserve in your chosen roles. So let’s cut the crap about Biden not showing enough respect for the process. Romney, Ryan and their butt boys stripped this electoral process of any semblance of respect a long time ago.
