Trump; The Tragedy

Where the hell is the Republican Party going? Just in the last week, John McCain has blasted the President for his un-presidential behavior. Then Republican Senators Bob Corker and Jeff Flake announced that they won’t run again because they can’t work with an administration that is led by a liar, a man devoid of morals, that has no plan for government or any sense of why he was elected other than his blatant self-aggrandizement. But what about the rest of the Republican Party? It has to be obvious to them that Trump isn’t a Republican and never was. He supported the Democratic Party and Democratic politicians until the birther nonsense forced all of them to reject him and he had to switch to he GOP.

Don’t get me wrong. I am not saying that Trump believes in Democratic principals because he doesn’t. In fact he has no principals. He only believes in and continues to promote Donald Trump. The healthcare plans of the GOP failed for two reasons. One it was only a sham to get a tax increase for the rich and two Trump the man who wanted to lead them hadn’t even bothered to read the bills, showed no knowledge of what was in them and lied about his lack of knowledge every day.

The same is true for the various tax proposals that are floating around. Trump has something to say about each. What he says only displays his lack of factual knowledge of each and every one of them.

Today in an interview Jeff Flake stated that we have a constitution that protects the nation from such as Trump and then Joe Scarborough added that this only works if congress has enough men of courage and good will to uphold the articles of the constitution, which at this point that doesn’t appear to be true.

The Republicans with serious dominance of each house are in a position to push Trump to the wall. Why is it that few of them are willing to show the guts to do so? It isn’t as if Trump is actively backing any of their proposals. He doesn’t even know what their proposals are. He displays no interest in acquiring the knowledge necessary to make any kind of intelligent decision but instead he blurts out anything that slips into his uninformed mind at every occasion.

It’s significant that Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan, the majority leaders of the House and Senate, have not spoken out against Trump and his phony administration. Until they decide that the American people must come before the power of the party we will be on the slippery slope to a demagogic dictatorship. Enough is enough.

Just in case you still thought that the GOP congress had your back, they stepped up the other day and proved that they do, but they have a knife in the hand they are patting you with. As if the banking industry hasn’t proved that the can’t be trusted and that they will screw their customers at the drop of a penny, our sterling legislators, who haven’t passed anything of significance since the new administration took office, finally decided to finally do something. What is it? Well, it’s a bill that will protect all those crooked bankers who keep stealing from their customers and getting fined by government investigators. Basically is says that customers can’t sue the banks and can’t become part of a class action suit for unfair bank practices. What that accomplishes is to open the floodgates for the banks to do, once again, what they did in 2007 when they along with the crooked mortgage industry crashed the economy. No one went to jail for that and that’s why they will do it again. Don’t forget, it was the ever-sleazy Mike Pence who cast the deciding vote when exactly half the Senate was honest enough to try and no pass this bill. Of course the other half was just that dishonest and so was the Vice President.

We know that Trump doesn’t pay any attention to polls. At least that’s what he says. And that, like everything else he says, is just another lie. If any poll puts him above anything he is the first to quote it. It’s as if numbers don’t mean anything to him unless he wants you to count a few thousand followers at places he appears and the he will turn that few thousand into tens of thousands.

So he probably wasn’t paying any attention this week when a Fox News poll showed that he fell a good bit in the following categories: White Evangelicals down 8%, whites without a college degree 8%, conservatives 6%, men 6%, whites n general 6%. Trump voters are still holding fast at 87% approval and Republicans in general at 83% but he has lost 2% of his voters in the same one-month period.

General approval for Trump is holding at 36%, which means that his base is holding but he has lost and continues to lose much of the independent vote that went for him. These people look around and say, “Where’s all the winning? He promised that we would win so much that we’d get tired of it. Where is it?”

The fact is, in his first nine months in office, usually the most productive period in any President’s administration and in this case with both houses of congress to back him up, Trump has accomplished zero! The Republicans got a Supreme Court judge. A big deal, only because Mitch McConnell was able to hold off the Democrats who just weren’t tough enough to push their candidate through during Obama’s final year. The only thing that Trump has done that is close to an accomplishment is funding the disaster relief and holding the deficit financing but he did that with the Democrats not the Republicans and it is only for three months.

Trump lied when he told the American voters what a big winner he was. At this point he is actually he biggest loser ever to inhabit the White House. And it looks like there is no end to the thread. And yes there are very good reasons for this. All the material necessary to craft a successful GOP sponsored health care bill, a bill that Trump promised and that the GOP wanted, was in place. Here was a new president and control of both houses of congress. All they had to do was come up with a functional bill that protected the people and paid for itself. The GOP had seven years to prepare it, seven years of fruitless attacks on the ACA, seven years of over 50 useless votes to repeal it and what did they come up with? Nothing! Zero! Zip! It’s a mishmash of unrelated pieces that would make the rich richer while making the people who need healthcare more vulnerable. And did Trump step up and fix the problems that the Republicans were creating? Hell no. The lazy, ignorant clown didn’t apply himself enough to find out what was in any of the useless bills and that was crystal clear any time he spoke about them.

Trump‘s voters must at some point realize and accept this is that he is lazy and ignorant. He approached the office of the President with no idea what it entailed, no concept of what it stood for and no intention to learn anything about how to make it function. He did no research and applied himself to nothing that would inform him of the enormity of the job he was facing. To make matters worse he was without training in any of the disciplines necessary to successfully carry out the duties of the President. He was and is, a spoiled brat who ran a small company with an oversized brand, a business financed and later saved by an indulgent father, a business that did not prepare him to run the greatest country in the world. Yeah, it was that before Trump got his tiny little hands on it.

So where does that leave us? After failing on everything in his first nine months in office, including every personality and character test possible, Trump has hitched his wagon to the tax bill. The problem is that he knows nothing about economics, taxes or the people they affect. Worse, he doesn’t really want to know anything more than the nothing he already does. Ask him! He will ell you how smart he is. He will tell you he “knows words.” He loves to tell us that he went to an Ivy League College and how well he did. Going to an Ivy League college in his case depended on how much money your father had and getting through said college depended on how much he was willing to donate to the latest building fund. As far as being a great student goes; one of his former professors at Wharton has stated that Trump was the worst student he ever taught. Does that mean he was too dumb or too lazy? Who knows, probably both.

So where does that leave us on a tax bill that Trump has already proven he has neither read nor understood. Basically in the shitter! Trump talks about saving the middle class but the bill that the GOP legislators have written does nothing of the sort. It seems only to be interested in saving money for the already rich. Every part of it contains some tax saving for the rich and in the end this “conservative” bill will add trillions to the deficit. The only place this bill looks to save money is in denying the middle class the ability to deduct contributions to their IRA’s. This will severely limit if not completely prevent the average guy from accumulating enough savings to retire. The GOP hates the poor and middle class and Trump is too dumb to see this. But large sections of the poor and middle class are too dumb to see this, which is why the GOP currently has control of all three parts of the legislative process. You get what you vote for and sometimes it kills you, like smoking.

Once again the disgusting creep in the White House has proved to be a disgrace to the human race and to the country he is supposed to be serving. Maybe this comes from the fact that the President really wants to be king. He stood in front of a crowd of reporters the other day and when questioned about current American war dead, he spoke first and foremost about himself, about how hard it was for him to call the parents of Americans who gave their lives so that he could dodge the draft. Then, obviously not bothered by the fact that he has done little or nothing to honor these dead, he went on to talk about how Obama and other Presidents didn’t call parents. This is a demonstrable lie and unfortunately we have become so used to Trump telling nothing but lies that it almost slid by. It was such an egregious violation of both truth and human conduct that even Republican congressmen and women are stepping forward to chastise him. Of course nothing will sink in. There is only one consideration in Trump’s universe; Trump! On November 7, 2016, the United States made a tragic mistake. We are paying for it now and we will be for many years unless Bob Mueller picks up the pace. This cheap criminal has no business running the greatest country in the world and every crude, unpleasant, rude, thoughtless, nasty lie he tells, proves what everyone else knows; that he has no more business in the White House than Vladimir Putin.

You want to say that the other day the President of the United States proved that he is an inhuman monster, but actually you can say that about every day. Every day Donald Trump proves that he has no humanity, no idea what humanity means. Last week in a phone call to the pregnant widow of La David Johnson, he told her that her husband had known what he was volunteering for. Sure he did, but when she was on her way to pick up her husbands remains was not the time to remind her of that. It was a time to speak to her husband’s heroism and the fact that he had given up his life for his country. It was a time to remind this young widow that he, as President, understood not only her husband’s sacrifice but hers too.

Then as if that wasn’t egregious enough he dragged his Chief of Staff, General John Kelly into the discussion by making the uninformed comment that Obama had not called Kelly’s family when their son, Robert was killed. Why? What was to be gained by this bizarre digression from the subject?

Doesn’t this man understand that he can’t involve Gold Star families or American war heroes in his petty political feuds? He is now at war with Senator John McCain, a man dying of brain cancer, a man who became an American hero at the same time Trump himself was dodging the draft so he could chase models and grab them by the pussy.

This degenerate piece of garbage is what’s leading our country. I know we are a nation of laws but it’s time that one of those bright men or women who desire to lead us, comes up with a constitutional plan to stop Trump’s desecration of that constitution and the nation. Trump is serially unfit for office and it is time the nation did something about it. Trump is in the White House because of a combination of greed on the parts of those who thought they would benefit economically by a Trump Presidency and stupidity on the parts of those who thought a Trump Presidency would somehow be good for them. The greedy ones, most of the medical profession and Wall Streeters, have since had their hopes crushed. Those who believed that he would help them in their struggle to survive have only proved their inability to understand the spoken word, and now they demonstrate that their only asset is their ability to make noise for him at his personally aggrandizing rallies. And as this happens the country goes down the toilet.
