First 100 Days #7

It seems that Trump got tired of watching Kellyanne Conway go into the toilet every time she spoke to the press so the White House sent yet another lamb to the slaughter, last Sunday when Sarah Huckabee Saunders spoke to George Stephanopoulos on This Week. The initial subject was the Trump administration’s involvement with the Russian hack of the DNC and their interference in our elections.

But Sara isn’t any different than Conway. The truth evades all Trump mouthpieces. The first thing this poor child said was, the FBI has stated that the investigation is bullshit. That’s a lie. The FBI has said no such thing. The intelligence agencies are still pursuing their investigations.

Then Sanders brings up the concept that the Democrats want to relive their loss ever day. More bullshit! It’s Trump who brings it up every day not any Democrat. Stephanopoulos couldn’t hold back the smiles a he pointed this fact out to Trump’s pathetic mouthpiece.

Then he asked three times if the President would guarantee that no one would lose their healthcare if we went ahead with the GOP plan. Three times she couldn’t answer but went off on useless tangents.

When Sarah was asked why Trump wasn’t going to the correspondent’s dinner she went off on a rave about how this President believed that he wasn’t elected to go to dinners but to get stuff done. She obviously hasn’t been paying attention.

This is a President who owes his election to the press. He got more press coverage during the primaries than all the other candidates put together. He got more press coverage during the election than Hillary and Bernie put together. The press got him where he is and now, because some of them can see what a disaster he is, he wants to turn this country into a totalitarian state and limit their ability to tell the public what it needs to know.

Okay, we’re forty-five days into the Trump administration‘s first term and so far he has actually accomplished nothing. In his first forty days in office Obama had passed and signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. A week later he signed a bill that saved four million jobs.

Trump has moved on a few of his campaign promises and he has started a war with the press but what has he actually accomplished that will help those that voted for him? Nothing except the harassment of a few illegal aliens who were quietly living their lives, cleaning our houses, or picking your vegetables. That looks like a negative from here.

Since Trump infested the White House he has actually caused three things to happen. He installed a head of national security who was such a disaster he became the fastest fired official in modern presidential history. He created fear in the hearts of all those who value the American principals of freedom and a free press and he established a level of untruthfulness that has us not even noticing the volume of lies that come from his twisted mouth and those of his cronies. A truly enviable record if you want to be on “The Apprentice.”

A very interesting discussion on This Week about what it will take for Trump to satisfy his base and keep them in hand. The general opinion was that in the end he has to provide jobs and he has to do it quickly but his problem is that outside of infrastructure building there are no jobs without new and advanced education, which most of those looking for jobs are not able to absorb. Yes, that’s the problem and Trump knew that would be the problem when he promised the suckers that voted for him, that he would help them. That was the biggest of lies because he knew he was lying when he said it. He knew that robots and draglines had already taken industrial and mining jobs and would continue to do so in the future. He also knew that his infrastructure promise was a lie because he doesn’t want to raise taxes, certainly not on the rich, and without doing that there is no money for the work to be done.

Just remember it always goes back to the money. Without it there are no public works of any kind. We need adequate taxes to be paid if this country is to progress and create valuable living experiences for all our citizens, not just the rich. The most successful living experiences in the history of this nation came just after WWII when taxes on the rich rose in some cases to 90%. And still they didn’t flee to other shores, they stayed because even at 90% they were making so much money that they couldn’t abandon the country that made that income possible. This blog is not suggesting that we should return to that 90% ceiling but it is saying that there is plenty of leeway beneath it for us to tax in a way that will produce enough income for all in the country to enjoy a good life, for all to be productive and for all to be satisfied, not just the top 1%.

Ohio Governor John Kasich speaking about Obamacare seems to understand that you can’t repeal it unless you have a replacement in place. Former Speaker John Boehner agrees with him but the problem is that no Republican will even consider the one thing that will fix the ACA forever; a single payer system. No the ACA doesn’t work and can’t be paid for, but those will always be its problems as long as it is run by private insurance companies. So right now they have complete chaos. The GOP doesn’t have any real plan or even a process on how to achieve any kind of plan simply because they will not admit to the biggest hurdle in getting either. If you won’t see that the only solution is single payer and you won’t try to figure out how that can possibly work, then you will never solve the major cause of financial problems with healthcare, which is insurance companies and the grip they have on Republican politicians.

Trump’s White House escalated its war with the press last weekend when Sean Spicer banned certain press outlets from White House press conferences. This after Trump himself went on a rant at the CPAC convention babbling against the press, screaming vitriolically about “Fake News.” This is a fake President if ever there was one. This is a man who cannot finish a complex sentence without telling a lie. He has repeatedly lied on TV about things he previously lied about on TV. This is a phony who posted stories in the press under fake names to promote himself.

The big theory is that Trump’s attacks on the press are all about setting up a wall against the time when the big negative story surfaces, quite possibly about Trump ‘s involvement with the Russians. If he has been able to already establish “fake news” as a reality, he will be able to hide behind that wall and possibly escape the tsunami that will follow.

The news has surfaced that Sean Spicer has called in all the cell phones in his office to check on leaks. Welcome to Berlin 1933. Ironically enough, this story arrived on our desk via a leak.

The number one job of the President of the United States is protecting the country. On Tuesday, February 28, 2017, Donald Trump made two huge moves that will endanger every citizen of this country into the foreseeable future. The first thing he did was sign a bill that will enable those with serious mental illness to buy guns. That’s right; people who are not capable of handling their own affairs can now buy an Uzi and kill your whole family. Why would Trump do such a stupid and dangerous thing? Because he owes his friends at the NRA who backed him in his campaign and he’s paying his debt. Unfortunately he’s doing it at the expense of all the citizens of the country he’s supposed to keep safe.

The second move he made was during the speech he made to congress. He had been warned over and over by Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly that he should not be using the term “radical Islamic terrorism.” This is a point that is accepted by most reasonable people who understand that the use of that term only gives terrorist organizations material to recruit Muslims. Trump ignored that advice and not only used it but emphasized it in his speech. It amazes me that a punk who chickened out of the draft is always so belligerent when other people’s lives are at stake.

Kellyanne Conway has emerged from all the lies as the political fluffer for the Trump administration. She kneels before a flaccid pile of nominations for cabinet posts, limp plans for action and stupid lies about enemies, and works desperately to erect some sense of direction in which this hopeless mess led by Trump can progress. She has become a truly pathetic figure yet as a result of, her lack of veracity she still prohibits sorrow.

In 1999 Jeff Sessions said, in regard to Bill Clinton’s denial that he had sex with a White House intern, that he had perjured himself and should be impeached.

In 2017 Jeff Sessions, appearing before a Senate confirmation committee, said in answer to a question that Al Franken didn’t ask, that he had never met with any Russians. Evidence from his own office says that he did. This is also perjury. This is as black and white as any political question I have ever seen and he should resign before he is prosecuted

But this involvement by Trump’s associates with the Russians begs a bigger question. Why does Trump seem to always give Putin the benefit of the doubt? Why does he seem to ignore Russia’s aggressive actions in Eastern Europe and in involving themselves in elections all over the world? The answer will be found n Trump’s non-presidential business dealings. Yes, he has business connections in Russia but even more important he has used Russian financing for many of his other business ventures all over the world.

That’s why Trump associates like Paul Manafort, Mike Flynn, Sebastian Gorka, Steve Bannon, Jared Kushner Jeff Sessions and many others have had meetings with various Russians, many of whom have been suspected of being part of Russian intelligence. Just one example; Commerce Secretary Wilber Ross is co-owner of the Bank of Cypress. His co-chairman is a Russian oligarch. That bank works as a conduit for huge amounts of Russia money that flows to the West. Can billionaire Ross be relied on to make decisions that will be favorable to his country or will he, as he has done in the past, look first at his own fortune when it comes time to make decisions?

  1. Russia: I think it’s all about oil, as so many things are: specifically leases on Russian oil fields (Crimean and Arctic, for instance) that could be picked up by, let’s say, Exxon-Mobil for drilling rights. The Trump empire will surely benefit somehow — it always has a grimy finger in the pie.
