How the GOP Fights for Your Rights

With Obama moving forward on a number of issues there is a feeling hovering over the Republicans that they didn’t receive the fruits of last year’s election victory. This is legitimate, but they brought it on themselves, because of their obstinate refusal to meet Obama halfway, on anything he was trying to do and their futile attacks on the ACA despite it’s being both financially successful and good for the American people.

The GOP won in 2014, but despite that, Obama is forging ahead on a number of issues and getting all the acclaim that they had tried so hard to keep him from receiving. What to do? There are many other programs that they can jump into, the most important among them, being the minimum wage, infrastructure, education and the environment, which Obama has already involved himself in with his agreement with China.

But they are, after all, the brain dead GOP, so after doing nothing for 6 years, the first agenda’s for the new GOP congress have both been inevitable losers. Instead of moving on to something that they could be proud of, they wasted more time and money trying to kill Obamacare, which they already have tried unsuccessfully to do over 50 times and which the Supreme court has finally tried to put to rest, and to pass the Pipeline, which has absolutely no benefit and myriad dangers to America.

Why? Why pull out two bad ideas as their first move? These are such incredibly stupid moves that it almost appears that both McConnell and Boehner are really Democratic spies, trying to destroy the Republican Party. Surely no move by the Democrats could possibly have made the Republicans look worse.

If the Republicans had, by some fluke, managed, to kill the ACA, they would have caused millions to lose their healthcare. Surely even the most obtuse, fanatic Tea Party nut doesn’t see this as a good political move.

Approving the Pipeline only looks good to Mitch McConnell and a group of sycophant Republicans who either own oil companies or are on the payrolls of oil company owners. Everybody else will get screwed by this pipeline which will add a grand total of 35 (It’s hard to write that number without laughing) permanent jobs, will endanger and ultimately poison our largest Midwestern watershed and will transport the most poisonous oil ever pulled out of the ground to a country that will surely burn it and poison the atmosphere.

To get their rights-of-way, Keystone and TransCanada, are using eminent domain to wrench homes and property from American citizens. How do they legally get to do that? These are Canadian companies. How do you take away an American citizen’s property to benefit a Canadian company and a Chinese customer? It’s a question that only a Republican can answer.

This is the kind of issue that should generate Cliven Bundy type outrage. Bundy is a crook who is stealing tax money from the government, tax money that could have helped the citizens of his area build better schools and roads, but he managed to get a gang of armed crazies to hold off Federal Marshalls, who had come to put him in jail and he got away with it. That’s right, Bundy is still a free man. How does he get away with it and stay free? How does this happen in a land that is supposedly ruled by laws? More important, if it can, why can’t it happen to benefit a group of people who are actually having their land stolen. Hey, you crazy gunners, here’s a real American cause for you to get behind. These people aren’t crooks like Bundy. These are real Americans who are getting screwed by a foreign company. Here’s your chance to look like American heroes instead of white supremacist punks. Face off against TransCanada and their foreign pipeline and show them they can’t steal land from real Americans. Make a statement, shoot a couple of foreign land grabbers.

If our Federal Marshalls won’t stand up on their hind legs to put a crook in jail they certainly won’t to defend foreigners who want to grab American homes. Let the paid sycophants of big oil pass the pipeline and then show them how real Americans feel about this big oil, foreign takeover.

Republicans keep talking about how they are the ones who know how to fix the economy. It seems that their solution to that is to forfeit American citizen’s land to foreign oil companies. By trying to force the Keystone Pipeline through they are putting themselves in the business of stealing land from hard working American land owners and giving it to a foreign company that will create no benefit for anyone, and in addition is guaranteed to poison our most important mid-western watershed. Is that how the Republican Congress solves the problems of the American people?
