The Immigration Mess

This week in a southern California town called Murrieta, mobs carrying American flags, led by a raging moron wearing a flag hat demonstrated against immigration, stopping buses full of little children on their way to a processing center where a decision would be made as to whether they would be declared refugees, thereby being eligible to enter the country legally or whether they would be declared illegal immigrants and sent back home.

This, patriots, is your American way, salivating degenerates attacking busses full of terrified children. Aren’t we proud to be Americans? It turns out that the area is adjacent to one in which, a country club was recently bought up by an evangelical Christian organization and turned into their base. Isn’t it wonderful when all those Christians can get out on the streets and show us how they display all the Lord’s virtues. I guess they thought they had displayed enough charity by not burning the busses.

Though not moving on our desperately needed immigration bill, congress did manage to get something done this week. They deleted the reporting requirements on personal travel that they do for their own enjoyment but is paid for by lobbyists, that want something from them. See, congress actually can do something. It just has to benefit them. The House Ethics Committee, (boy is that an oxymoron) did the deed behind closed doors and never announced it. Last year members of congress and their families spent over six million on travel, paid for by people outside the government, people that had something to gain. We used to call that bribery. Many of us still do.

Even though they did find time to mask their illegal behavior, Congress won’t move on immigration, not even while 353,000 people wait for their deportation cases to be processed in a backlogged system that has space for only 34,000 detainees. All this, while people have to wait up to 20 years for their naturalization or green card process to go forward. Yeah, you read right. 20 years. If we heard that this was going on in Nigeria or Ghana we would be shocked. I guess it’s the new status of American exceptionalism. We are still number one but now it’s in incompetence and dysfunction.

More than five thousand children, who are citizens of the US are in foster care right now, because their parents were deported. Despite this, twenty percent of all the immigrants in the world currently live in our country. We are all the descendents of immigrants and yet we have an immigration system that is broken beyond repair and must be replaced immediately by one that works. We can build all the fences in the world but that won’t stop illegal immigration. Most of the illegal immigrants don’t walk over the Mexican border anyway. They arrive in our airports with visitor’s visas and simply meld into the population.

The House is completely wrong in its refusal to even consider a bill that the Senate passed last year but you couldn’t tell it by talking to Republicans.

Bob Goodlatte, R- Virginia : “If the senate bill would become law it would worsen this crisis because it fails to secure our borders, mitigate threats to national security, deport convicted criminals and enforce our immigration laws going forward. “

Good ole beltway Bob is working on a level of stupidity and misinformation that may set a new level for intellectual futility. Our borders are secure you idiot and these children provide no threat to national security. And as for deporting people, Obama has more than earned the nickname of Deporter-in-Chief so what the hell are you talking about? And when you talk about deporting criminals, how do you think all those criminals that are now causing trouble in Central America got there? We deported them from here when we passed a law aimed at breaking up the Latino gangs in our major Southern cities.

Goodlatte is dumb enough to be twins. The Right keeps screaming about the fact that the border is not secure. That just shows that they haven’t quite learned to define multi syllable words yet. Since last October we have apprehended over 52,000 children and over 39.000 adults. They didn’t catch themselves. Even to the least observant that looks like a pretty secure border. The administration can’t be responsible for those trying to get into the country, only how many of them we catch.

Where to start?

Rick Perry, big oil’s governor of Texas, makes the ludicrous statement that the US border is less secure now than at anytime in history. This is more a statement about Rick Perry than it is about our border. Perry is either a flat out liar or too stupid to understand the concept of border security, or probably both.

Watching Perry speak to Martha Raddatz is like watching someone who is autistic. She asks him various important questions about the immigration problem, and all this moron can do is repeat that we must secure our borders. Our borders are secure, Rick. That’s how we apprehended over 90 thousand people in the last nine months. Obama has already done that as far as it can reasonably be done. Perry complains that Texas has only seven guards per mile. Seven guards per mile in Texas! That means that there is one Texan every 750 feet, or by city standards, less than four short blocks, each guard with weapons, a vehicle and sometimes dogs. Maybe it’s just the quality of Texas manhood that is failing. Maybe he needs them standing shoulder to shoulder in order keep those viscous four-year-olds from skipping past.

The question becomes, why does a program like This Week have a moron like Perry on their show. Is it just to show him up for the fool that he, is or do they think his idiotic ramblings will stir debate? If debate is what they’re looking for, then they should, at least, get a spokesman for the right who has some ability to think logically.

Then there’s a disaster like Laura Ingraham who just wants to send all these kids and their mothers back wherever they came from. Of course she never considers whether or not those people are coming from a place that is so dangerous that they are actually political émigrés, which would immediately make them eligible for asylum. Many are coming from Honduras, the murder capital of the world and as such would be eligible. LAURA DOESN’T CARE. They’re not white. Get them the hell out. It’s too late Laura. You are now a minority. Get used to it. It ain’t gonna change. It’s only going to get worse.

The real problem isn’t immigration but a humanitarian crisis that emanates from Central America. These kids are all coming from places where it’s too easy to die or end

up a victim of trafficking. If that doesn’t stop, neither will the flow of immigrants.

Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador are in chaos with a murder rate of one in seven when NYC has a murder rate of one in twenty five thousand. Of course these people are fleeing. Wouldn’t you? Laura Ingraham certainly would.

So what to do? How about calling on the governments of the offending nations, all democracies, to allow us to help get rid of their criminal elements like we did in Columbia. Let’s stop worrying about what Muslim is killing what other Muslim halfway across the world and solve our own hemisphere’s problems.

A big element in those problems are the coyotes; How about doing something about them? It seems like a perfect job for the US Marshal’s Service. How about a special force, operated in conjunction with the involved countries and especially Mexico that hunts them down and takes them out of the equation. We hunt the four-legged kind, what makes these animals any better?

In California where the crazies are rioting about kids on busses they have 15 guards per mile. That means each guard only has to protect 352 feet. Or less than two blocks Considering that they are all armed and motorized it doesn’t seem like they are stretched particularly thin. In fact it seems like a job that blind quadriplegics could handle.

Tom Cobern, R-OK wants to just send the kids back. It can be done, he assures us, for under one thousand dollars per kid and it sends the message that they have wasted their money coming here and that the coyotes are lying. The problem of course, is that we would be sending many of these kids to their death and no one, not even those raving, bus attacking, Evangelical Christians wants to be responsible for that. The problem isn’t immigration but survival. These kids aren’t coming here to steal jobs from trailer park trash like the bunch that attacked the busses in Murietta. They are coming here to stay alive. Do we want to send them back to their deaths or are we the kind of people who understand the poor and disenfranchised and are willing to help?

Republicans just keep yelling for the President to do something on his own to solve the crisis but when he does Boehner and the Tea Party scream that he is over stepping his bounds and want to sue him. All the while Sara, the “Nut from the North” Palin wants Obama impeached mainly because she isn’t smart enough to know what high crimes and misdemeanors means.. That’s a big problem in the whole stew. There are just too many stupid people who can’t make an intelligent point but still feel it necessary to make more noise than anyone around them.

Why is it that the same people who have repeatedly failed to help solve the immigration problem, who have kept any legislation on immigration from being voted on in the House, are the ones who find it necessary to attack the President about not doing enough. He is, after all, the only one who is doing anything except running off at the mouth.

The problem with the border problem is that it has become political and not social or judicial. Obama and many Democrats have made the same mistake. They mistakenly thought they could trust the Right to be intelligent and reasonable with regard to their chief bitch, closing the border. So he played hardball, lined up border guards almost shoulder to shoulder apprehended over 90,000 people in the last 9 months and sent back thousands of illegal immigrants. But the Right wasn’t satisfied., not even when we ended up with a negative influx from Mexico. Yeah, that’s right, we were actually sending more people back then were crossing the border, but the Right still kept screaming about defending the border. They promised to get serious as soon as the border was secured, but when it was, as it is now, they still wouldn’t move on an immigration bill. Why not? Because they never had any intention of considering such a bill as long as Obama was in office.

It was bad enough that Obama passed health care; The Right is still ranting about it but they all know that it is and will be a huge success, a much-needed program that will help millions. To also pass immigration would make him a very successful president. There haven’t been many presidents who have managed to get two earth shattering bills of such significance passed in their tenure. The GOP dream of playing up Obama as a failure would be over. Even if he doesn’t get immigration passed his presidency, looked at in the light of history will look a lot better than most of his predecessors. When people regard what a mountain of horrors he inherited upon taking office and how he got no cooperation from a failed Republican party when he tried to solve the mess that was left behind by George Bush he will, in the end, look a hell of a lot more like a hero than a failure.

Somebody asked me recently why all Republican’s are bigots. Well, they’re not, but the question was backwards anyway. It’s not that all Republicans are bigots, it’s that all bigots become Republican’s because that the only party that will accept them.
